Haaretz

Spectronix yesterday reported winning two new contracts worth $10 million from none other than the defense giant BAE. The Israeli company, which is situated in missile-studded Sderot, will be supplying BAE with fire extinguishing systems and bomb-detonation extinction systems for armored combat vehicles.
The equipment is for the American army and Marines project MRAP - which stands for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected. The idea is to create a fleet of vehicles that can continue trucking on under attack, including ambushes with roadside bombs.

So far Spectronix has received $22 million worth of work pursuant to MRAP. The company already delivered some of the equipment in the first quarter of 2008. Spectronix specializes in the development and marketing of systems to discover fire using optical means and the concentration of hazardous gases, and automated systems that detect and dampen explosions. Its wares are used not only by the military but by civilian industries as well, including chemicals and petrochemicals, gas stations, oil drills, plane hangars.
